| 1. What is the ingredient
"Glucono-Delta-Lactone", listed on the back of your package?
Although the word "lactone" sounds similar to "lactose"
or "lactate", Glucono Delta Lactone or GDL is completely dairy-free.
It is a derivative of corn starch which is used as a coagulant in the
making of our tofu.
2. Why is tofu so good for you?
Sunrise tofu and Pete's tofu are made from natural ingredients and are
free from preservatives. Tofu is easily digested and dairy free, making
it ideal for people who are lactose intolerant. Tofu is a rich source
of protein, especially for people who want to reduce their animal protein
intake. It contains all nine essential amino acids, which are readily
absorbed by the human body. The amino acid pattern of soy is almost
identical to that of meat, milk, and egg products.
Tofu is cholesterol-free, low in calories, low in saturated fat, and
low in sodium. Tofu contains B vitamins, iron, and calcium. In some
of our tofu a calcium salt such as calcium sulfate is used as a coagulant
rendering the tofu will be even higher in calcium. One package of Sunrise
Medium Firm tofu contains 55mg of the recommended daily amount of calcium
for adults (1100mg).
3. Are Sunrise and Pete's products Vegan?
Vegan is defined as being without meat, fish, dairy, eggs, or other
animal products. All of our products (except Sunrise Mandarin Egg tofu)
are vegan.
4. Do we use NON-GMO beans?
At Sunrise, we use only Non-GMO soybeans in all our products. In fact,
we were among the first companies to take this step, as a pro-active
response to consumer demand.
5. Which varieties of Sunrise or Pete's
tofu contain the highest protein content?
All of Sunrise's tofu products have significant amounts of soy protein,
but our Super Firm, Ex Firm and Italian Herb contain the most at 13
grams of soy protein per serving. Sunrise Firm tofu is the next highest
with 11 grams of soy protein per serving.

after it's opened?
